The system has a chassis (1) with a passive steering belt tightener (5). Two driving elements (2) are provided, each one fully vertically oriented in a housing (8) so that they are freely rotatable and mounted on a shaft (3). The shaft is turned by means of a motor drive unit (7) which is connected to the end of the shaft. A wheel (4) is mounted on the shaft. Brakes (10) act on the shaft and the belt tightener is tightened elements at three corners.
