To operate a vehicle hybrid drive, with an internal combustion motor and an electromotor, a decision (S1,S2) determines if the actual power output (Ptot) is lower than the required power output (Ps) or not. If the actual power output is not lower, in the long term, then the internal combustion motor is used. If the power output is lower than the required level, then at least part of the difference is made up by the electromotor (S3).
