<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost solid oxide fuel cell having no separator and simple structure: and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The solid oxide fuel cell is formed in structure having an insulating substrate, two or more through holes 20, 40 serving as gas passages formed on the insulating substrate, an anode and a cathode formed on the surfaces of the through holes, and an oxygen-ion conductive oxide layer 3 formed on the insulating substrate so as to come in contact with the anode 2 and the cathode 4.
