PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator using a film type capacitance proximity switch as a control switch in a display panel part of a refrigerator door front face and eliminating effects of intrusion of water into a switch part to improve reliability of operation, and eliminating constraints of installation portions of a panel to enlarge the degree of freedom in design and to allow more novel design. SOLUTION: The refrigerator is comprised of a heat insulating door 7 blocking so as to freely open and close a front face opening of a body, the film type capacitance proximity switch 17 used as the function control switch installed on an outer face of the heat insulating door, a display device 16 such as a liquid crystal panel displaying each function, and the display panel 12 covering a surface of the display device. It is characterized by that the capacitance proximity switch is arranged between the display device and the display panel, and it is operated by contact or approach of the hands and fingers, or the like.
