<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the operability of a mirco object capturing device, by simplifying the capturing and holding of a micro object. <P>SOLUTION: The micro object capturing device is equipped with a substrate 2, a first tank 3 provided above the substrate 2, a second tank 4 provided under the substrate 2 and the pressure device connected to at least one of the first and second tanks 3 and 4. A through-hole 6 is formed to the substrate 2 so as to pierce the substrate 2 from its upper surface to its under surface and recesses 8A, and protrusions 8B are formed alternately to the inner wall of the through-hole 6. According to this constitution, the micro object 7 (cell) can easily be drawn into the through-hole 6 by only pressure control so as to be captured and can be kept and held in the through-hole 6 by the protrusions 8B provided to the inner wall of the through-hole 6.
