<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the frequency of detection of unsupplied paper jam by judging the presence or absence of the occurrence of unsupplied paper jam based on proper conditions. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming device, the drive time of a paper feed roller is recorded in a paper feed roller cumulative drive counter. A reference table is stored in the image forming device beforehand. In this reference table, the number of times of the retry of paper supply, the rotational speed of a paper feed roller motor, and an unsupplied paper jam time value are so indicated as to correspond to each other in increments of the life drive time of the paper feed roller of 120 Ksec. A CPU specifies the number of times of the retry of paper supply, the rotational speed of the paper feed roller motor, and the unsupplied paper jam timer value based on the reference table and the drive time of the paper feed roller. Then, based on the specified values, the CPU performs the conveying of recording paper and the judgment of the unsupplied paper jam.
