PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which keeps writing on electronic paper speedy and a low cost. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a printing plate having an insulating print surface and capable of applying a conductive liquid at a predetermined position of the surface, a press portion with conductive properties disposed in the relationship so as to interpose a printing medium having electrophoresis devices that are planarly aligned thereon between the printing plate and the press portion, and a voltage applying device for applying a direct voltage between the printing plate and the press portion.
