A mobile communication terminal and a method for checking a residual quantity of a battery are provided to prevent unintentional data transmission abortion and double payment for a resumed data transmission by checking a battery state and displaying a warning message in case of battery shortage before performing data transmission and reception. A mobile communication terminal(100) includes a communication module(110), a battery life detection unit(120), a control unit(130), and a display unit(150). The control unit confirms a residual quantity of the battery through the battery life detection unit in selecting the data transmission and reception through the communication module and warns power shortage when the residual quantity of the battery is less than the quantity required for data transmission and reception. The display unit displays the power shortage by the controller. |
