The device has a test chamber with cooling and heating chambers (4, 5). The chamber (5) is joined with a wall area of the chamber (4) and a headlight is located in the area such that a closure disc (7) faces the chamber (4) to accommodate a headlight casing with a headlight interior (9) in chamber (4). The interior turned inside of the disc comes to a fitting formation by adjustment of a temperature difference between chambers (4, 5). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a device for frosting and/or defrosting a headlight of a motor vehicle.
