A washing machine having a drain pump is provided to prevent vortex flow from being generated in a vent passage by projecting a guide rail at the inner wall of a vent port for reducing flow resistance, thereby improving pumping efficiency and reducing noise. A washing machine having a drain pump comprises a drain motor(30), an impeller, a vortex flow chamber(40), a pump casing(31) having a vent port(34) wherein a vent passage(50) is formed, and a guide rail(52). The impeller is rotated by the drain motor. The impeller is rotatably installed in the vortex flow chamber. The water is discharged from the vortex flow chamber through the vent passage. The guide rail for guiding water flow is projected to a predetermined height on the inner wall(51) of the vent port and parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vent port. |
