A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR TREATING COLITIS

A composition comprising 8-oxo-deoxyguanosine is provided to show equal effect to that of mesalazine, a conventional representative anti-inflammatory agent, without side effects such as hypersensitivity, nausea, vomiting and headache, thereby being used for patients showing hypersensitivity on salicylic acid and a derivative thereof and being usefully used as an anti-inflammatory agent for treating colitis. A pharmaceutical composition for treating colitis such as infectious colitis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease comprises 8-oxo-deoxyguanosine(8-oxo-dG) or 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-oh-dG) as an effective ingredient. The composition further comprises at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier selected from the group consisting of saline solution, sterile water, Ringer's solution, buffered saline solution, albumin injection solution, dextrose solution, malto-dextrin solution and ethanol.
