The method for filling flexible foil bags (1) involves using a gaseous medium such as nitrogen, oxygen or air to shape out and disinfect the bag which is then filled with fluid material such as a drink. The gaseous medium can be ozone and/or hydrogen peroxide. The bag can be evacuated before it is shaped out. Independent claim describes apparatus for filling bag which has a device for adding a disinfecting agent to the gaseous medium. This can include a heating device.
