PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for detecting a waste toner full state without any waste toner detection sensor by accurately calculating a waste toner quantity without being influenced by change of a use environment and characteristic change of consumables while uniformly collecting waste toner in a waste toner collection container.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus provided with the waste toner collection container for collecting the waste toner generating by accompanying image formation includes: a waste toner leveling means arranged in the waste toner collection container, and crushing the aggregated waste toner when being driven to uniformly level the waste toner collected in the waste toner collection container; a waste toner quantity calculation means for calculating the waste toner quantity corresponding to an accumulated quantity of the waste toner generating by accompanying the image formation; and a waste toner full state determining means for determining that the waste toner collection container is in a waste toner full state when the waste toner quantity calculated by the waste toner quantity calculation means reaches a prescribed quantity.
