PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impulse transmission method whereby data can be transmitted with a simple configuration and high reliability even through a deteriorated transmission path. SOLUTION: An impulse transmission apparatus 1 applies amplitude modulation to a carrier wave with an impulse sequence obtained by turning on/off impulses synchronously with a transmission clock by transmission data. In an impulse receiver 3, an envelope detection section 11 extracts a baseband signal in response to the envelope of a received amplitude modulation signal, a DC cut section 12 interrupts a DC component, and a lowpass filter 13 extracts a low frequency component required for extracting the transmission data. A data judgement section 15 counts the pulse width of an output waveform of a clip section 14 and selects a sole candidate or two candidates equivalent to an integer multiple of the period of the transmission clock and judges the pulse width finally by estimating a most probable sequence among possible candidate sequences.
