PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope simplifying the disposition of an illumination lens at the distal end of an insertion section disposed with an LED while narrowing its diameter, highly efficiently distributing the illumination light illuminated from the LED according to the visibility angle of an objective optical system and illuminating it to a subject site. SOLUTION: This endoscope is provided with the narrow and long insertion section to be inserted into the subject site, the chip-shaped LED 45 provided in a fixed frame 50 at the distal end 21 of the insertion section and worked as a light source, and a rod lens 44 provided in the fixed frame 50 closer to the distal end side in the illumination direction of the LED 45 than the LED 45, focusing the light illuminated from the LED 45 and illuminating it to the subject site; wherein the endoscope is characterized in that the rod lens 44 is fixed in the fixing frame 50 with fixing adhesive 55.
