PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door apparatus in which an inner door can be stored in a sliding door storage section in the state of being stored in an outer door while assuring excellent quietness and durability, reducing its production cost, and offering high installation work performance and a good appearance without causing any problem in its quality and strength. SOLUTION: A rail supporting frame equipped with rail members for the outer door and the inner door with a predetermined clearance maintained between them in a horizontal direction is installed between a vertical frame at a door tail side and a vertical frame at a door front side; the outer door is connected to the rail members for the outer door through a hanger at an end of an outer door front side and a hanger at an outer door tail side; and the inner door is connected to the inner door rail member through a hanger at the inner door front side always located in front of the hanger at the outer door front side and the hanger at the inner door front side near the hanger at the outer door tail side when the inner and outer doors are fully opened and also through a hanger at the inner door tail side near the rear side of the outer door front side when the inner and outer doors are fully opened thereby installing an interlocking device between the inner door and the outer door in such a manner that the traveling distance of the inner door is twice as long as that of the outer door can be provided.
