A mechanical seal is provided to reduce the thickness of the mechanical seal by disposing a biasing member not to be in serial in the thickness direction of a first seal member and a second seal member. A mechanical seal includes a first case member(1), a second case member(2), a first seal member(3), a wave spring(4), a second seal member(5), a transmission member(6), a ring-shaped attachment member(7), and a bellows(8). The first case member is rotated with a rotary shaft. The second case member is attached to a pump body to form a space between the first and the second case members. The first seal member is attached to the first case member by the attachment member. The wave spring is attached to the second case member. The second seal member is disposed concentrically with the first seal member. The transmission member transmits a biasing force to the second seal member. The bellows is attached between the second case member and the transmission member.
