PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission unit capable of limiting a range of content distribution.

SOLUTION: A source side module 3 and a monitor side module 5 transmit/receive an identification signal Sid via an optical fiber 4, count time ΔT from transmission to reception of the identification signal Sid and measure transmission distance between the source side module 3 and the monitor side module 5 from the counted time.
