PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of continuing air conditioning without operating an overload protection device even in a low-voltage environment. SOLUTION: This air conditioner is provided with a detection means capable of carrying out voltage detection and current detection for moving to a MAX operation in a normal load, and moving to a SAVE operation in drop of a power voltage or in an overload condition such as an overcurrent by using a capability-variable air conditioner capable of changing over a compressor discharge volume from MAX to SAVE and vice versa, and is structured such that the capacitance of a capacitor for operating a compressor motor is increased in the SAVE operation at the same time.
