PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor controller capable of attaining proper protection of a circuit device, while preventing erroneous determination during regenerative operation of a motor. SOLUTION: The motor controller includes: a target current computing device 51; a driving control unit 52 for generating a driving signal, based on a current variationΔI between a targeted current IMT and a detected current IMS; a failure determination unit 53 for generating a failure determination signal, based on the targeted current IMT and the detected current IMS; and a regenerative operation determination unit 59 for determining a regenerative operation state of the motor 4. When a determination threshold of the failure determination unit 53 is determined to be regenerative operation of the motor 4, the threshold is set so as to be larger than the determination threshold during power running.
