PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel normal temperature molten salt which exhibits low viscosity and a high viscosity index, excels in low temperature flowability, has low volatility, and excels in high temperature stability, and a lubricant which is superior in stability to the conventional lubricant and can be used for a long time in a broad temperature range. SOLUTION: The normal temperature molten salt is represented by formula [1] (wherein R<SB>1</SB>is hydrogen or a 1-18C alkyl group; R<SB>2</SB>to R<SB>4</SB>are each hydrogen or a 1-6C alkyl group; and A is an acid component), and the lubricant uses the normal temperature molten salt.
