The insulator (14) is a bush (16) with variable external diameter. This diameter exceeds that of the bore (10), but can be reduced by overcoming resilient force(s), to a diameter which is less than that of the bore. The bush is a closely-wound spring. This has recesses in its outer surface, formed by the external cross section of the windings, which touch each other. This surface is non-planar. It is curved or angular. Ends of the spring are formed for gripping by a tool tensioning it, so that its diameter is reduced for insertion. The bush is made of a poor thermal conductor, e.g. a steel of low thermal conductivity. The corresponding insulator for a roller (2, 5) is also claimed.
