Disclosed is a method for screening a substance which can increase the glutathione level and can be used as an active ingredient for a therapeutic agent, as a means for treatment of a disease such as neurodegenerative disease, malignant tumor and an inflammatory disease. In the method, a candidate substance is contacted with a cell capable of expressing GTRAP3-18 protein, and the candidate substance is determined to be a desired substance when the candidate substance decreases the GTRAP3-18 protein expression level or suppresses the function of GTRAP3-18 protein.
