A display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve a coupling property between counter electrodes and a bank by removing an oxide film from a bank surface using a soft-etching process. A display device includes plural display pixels having light emitting elements with media transport layers. A partition is formed on a substrate(11) between forming regions for the display pixels. Pixel electrodes(15) are formed on the respective forming regions. A surface of the pixel element is processed to have a lyophilic property. A surface of the partition is etched. The surface of the partition is processed to have a lyophilic property. During the lyophilic process on the pixel electrode, an oxide film is removed from the surface of the partition.
