<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron head easy to strike, stabilizing the ball trajectory even in the case of offset shooting and achieving satisfactory carry. <P>SOLUTION: This head includes: a head body 11 having a face 11a; and a hosel 12 for mounting the head body 11 on a shaft 9. The inertia moment around the center of gravity in the vertical direction of the head and the head mass satisfy the relationship expressed by:I<SB>ud</SB>≥6.35M - 920(I<SB>ud</SB>(gcm<SP>2</SP>): inertia moment around the center of gravity in the vertical direction, M(g): mass of the head). The depth of gravitational center of the head 10 satisfies the relationship expressed by G<SB>d</SB>≤-0.042M + 13.8(G<SB>d</SB>(mm):depth of gravitational center, M(g): mass of the head).
