PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain color conversion with high precision over the whole of a color space of conversion origin. SOLUTION: An RGB value uniform chart is converted to a Debye non-dependent color system. When values of the color system are represented in a color space, for values in a region 901 occupied by chart data there are registered values based on LUT where RGB values before the conversion of the chart data and RGB values after the conversion are correlated. In contrast, outside the region 901 there are registered values obtained by conversion using a matrix which is determined by correlating the RGB values before the conversion of the chart data and the RGB values after the conversion. Using the LUT obtained in such a manner, scan input image data are converted to the device non-dependent color system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
