METHOD OF PRODUCING DRY YEAST CONTAINING S-ADENOSYL-L-METHIONINE AND COMPOSITION FOR ORAL INTAKE

A method of producing a dry yeast containing S-adenosyl-L-methionine by using a yeast capable of producing S-adenosyl-L-methionine, which comprises subjecting a yeast cell concentrate separated from a liquid culture medium of the yeast cells to at least one of the treatment (1) of adding a mineral acid to adjust the pH value to 1 to 5 and the treatment (2) of heating to 40^oC to 85^oC and then drying to thereby give a dry yeast containing S-adenosyl-L-methionine; and a composition for oral intake which is produced by molding the dry yeast obtained by the above production method. Thus, it is possible to provide a method of conveniently producing dry yeast cells containing S-adenosyl-L-methionine, which is useful as a water-soluble physiologically active substance, at a high concentration, at a high yield and at a low cost; and a composition for oral intake which is produced by molding the dry yeast obtained by the above production method.
