The power steering (3) has a power consumer (8) coupled with an electrical servo motor (4) in such a manner that the servo motor acts as a generator for supplying electrical energy to the power consumer during operation of the servo motor. The servo motor is provided for assisting the operation of a ball screw (5). A relay is provided for switching the servo motor between servo assistance and generator operation, where the generator operation is activated with the relay.
