摘要 A magnetic disc device, and a method for controlling a position of a head are provided to improve follow-up performance of model speed to target speed and to prevent mechanical resonance by switching high speed of a control order to low speed smoothly. A magnetic disc device(140) comprises a magnetic disc(114), a head(111), a head driver(112), and a position deciding controller. The magnetic disc is recorded by data. The head records and reproduces the data of the magnetic disc. The head driver moves the head to a radial direction of the magnetic disc. The position decoding controller gives a control order to the head driver to position the head at a target position on the magnetic disc. A method for controlling a position of the head includes a step of controlling the head recording and reproducing the data of the magnetic disc positioned at the target position on the magnetic disc, by performing a feedback control operation on the basis of an error between the target position and an actual head position; and a step of computing a model position outputted to a feedback controller as an order about the target position, and model speed of the head following up target speed, by using a pre-set control model when obtaining the control order given to the head driver moving the head to the radial direction of the magnetic disc, and obtaining the control order and the model position according to the target position on the basis of a differential value of the target speed corresponded to a remained distance from the model position to the target position.
