A method and a device for a balanced dual stage actuator in a head stack assembly of a hard disc drive are provided to minimize torque induced to the head stack assembly balancing a micro actuator coupled in a lateral direction. A device for a balanced dual stage actuator in a head stack assembly(50) of a hard disc drive comprises at least two micro actuators(80,80-2) and a lateral control signal unit(82). The micro actuator is connected with a head stack by an individual head gimbal assembly. The lateral control signal unit powers the micro actuators in the opposite lateral directions. A method for the balanced dual stage actuator includes a step of powering all the micro actuators; and a step of powering two of the micro actuators of the neighbored head gimbal assemblies in the opposite lateral directions.
