The invention relates to a process of preventing colour fog when colour developing a photographic silver halide material, wherein, after developing the image, the material is treated in a bath of pH higher than 7 and containing a water-soluble hydrazine salt, a water-soluble hydroxylamine salt or formamidine-sulphinic acid, and is simultaneously or subsequently bleached in a bleachfixing bath. The material may be treated, after development, in a stop-fix bath comprising hydrazine sulphate, thiosemicarbazide, hypo, phosphates and sulphite, and then in a bleach-fix bath of similar composition comprising also ethylene-diamine tetraacetic acid in the form of its trisodium and iron salts. The bleach-fix bath also may contain iodide according to Specification 926,569. |
