A descender comprises rope guide means 1, 2,18 mounted on a support plate 5. An additional rope guide means 11 is mounted on a second support plate 6 (figure 5). The second support plate is selectivly configurable between an open position wherein the rope guide 11 is spaced from the other rope guide means to facilitate roping/unroping, and a closed position wherein the rope guide 11 is in operative contact with the rope 15. Preferably an attachment means comprising corresponding apertures 8, 9 (figure 5) in the support plates 5,6 is provided to allow a connector such as a karabiner to be inserted. |
