The stringing of a tennis or like racket is carried out by starting at a point, e.g. A, between the axes of symmetry of the frame, continuing along a sinuous path A 1 , A 2 . . . B to provide a central area of parallelly disposed strings, then following an outwardly spirallike path B 1 , B 2 , B 3 , B 4 . . . D to provide longitudinal and transverse strings in a marginal area and finally following a sinuous path D, D 1 , D 2 . . . F to form cross strings in the central area. The strings 2 are interwoven and, as shown, are passed through and anchored by turns of a wire coil 3 embracing the frame 1, the strings forming the central area passing round two adjacent turns of the coil.
