A seismic streamer includes a jacket covering an exterior of the streamer. At least one strength member extends along the length of the jacket, and is disposed inside the jacket. At least one seismic sensor 56 (e.g. hydrophone) is mounted in a respective sensor spacer 34 affixed to the at least one strength member, which passes through passages 52 in the spacer. The streamer includes means for retaining the at least one sensor in the respective sensor spacer. The means for retaining provides acoustic isolation between the at least one sensor and the respective spacer. The sensor may be retained in the spacer by a curable gel 46 which forms a resilient ring between the exterior of a tube holding the sensor and the interior of an opening in the spacer. Noise induced in the spacer, such as from the Poisson effect in the strength members, is efficiently isolated from the sensor. |
