Hydrogen peroxide is stabilized in the presence of copper ions with 1, 2, 3-triaminopropane -N N, N1, N1, N11, N11-hexacetic acid.ALSO:The invention comprises 1,2,3-triaminopropane-N,N,N1,N1,N11, N11-hexacetic acid, its salts with monovalent cations (e.g. Na), and its complexes with ions of metals having a co-ordination number of at least 2 (e.g. Mg, Ca, Ba, Sr, Cu, Zn, Mu, Co, Ni, Fe11, Fe111, Al, Y and Pu). The above acid is prepared by reacting 1,2,3-triaminopropane with a monohalogenated acetic acid or a salt, ester, amide or nitrile thereof, or with formaldehyde cyanhydrin, a mixture of alkali cyanide and formaldehyde, or of hydrogen cyanide and formaldehyde, thereby to introduce six times the molar amount of an acetic acid radical -CH2COOH, possibly in modified form, and, where the acid group in the compound obtained is in modified form, liberating it by hydrolysis, and then, if a complex metal compound is required, reacting the free acid with appropriate co-ordinative metal ions. The free acid functions as a chelating agent.ALSO:1,2,3 - Triaminopropane - N,N,N1,N1,N11,-N11-hexacetic acid is used as a chelating agent for the removal of iron stains during the kier boiling of cotton goods. |
