The light unit has multiple illuminants (12a-12b), where the light is guidable into a light conductor material by the illuminants. Two light conductor sections (16a, 16b) are joined together in a node (30) at one of its ends (20a, 20b), where the node forms a decoupling region (24). The light is discharged into the decoupling region, where the light is guided into the light conductor sections for the node. The light conductor sections exhibit coupling points (22a-22b) for the illuminants that are distant from the node. An independent claim is also included for an exterior mirror of a vehicle.
