The method involves allocating and applying an identification number to a identification carrier, which is assigned to a feed through in a definite manner. Technical data and/or organizational data are coded on the identification carrier. The identification carrier is sheeted in the feed through in such a manner that end areas of the identification carrier are visible in the feed through. Updatable data sets in the identification number are entered into a documentation system. An independent claim is also included for an identification carrier with an identification number.
