960,096. Encapsulating electrical components. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925) Ltd. July 26, 1960 [March 18, 1960], No. 9679/60. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H1] A chain of encapsulated electrical components such as capacitors or resistors is formed by moulding insulation around the components and subsequently utilizing at least one thin web of insulating material to join the encapsulations of consecutive components; the encapsulations being effectively integrally connected with the web. A capacitor A having terminals A 3 and a central hole A 2 is located in a mould B by pins B 3 , one of which is spring loaded. Nylon is injected into the mould which has recesses B 2 and the tabs so formed are later united to those of adjacent capacitors by nitrogen gas, Fig. 6 (not shown), or by a solvent. In the embodiments of Fig 2-4 and 7 and 8 (not shown) the capacitors are encapsulated by the method of Specification 960,094 and the tabs are formed by recesess in the mould or integrally with the insulating support. In the embodiment of Fig. 11 encapsulated capacitors D are placed in mould G and nylon injected into slots G 1 to unite the capacitors. In the embodiment of Fig. 12 capacitors D are joined by a flexible insulating band H of nylon by hot pressing in press J, J 1 . Polythene or polypropylene may alternatively be used as the encapsulation or the web material. Specification 960,095 also is referred to. |
