A reinforcing pad (90) for a motor vehicle panel is provided. The reinforcing pad is penetrated by a plurality of air-releasing holes (32). The holes extend over at least a majority of the pad. The material of the pad is shrinkable upon curing to reduce the diameter of the holes. A ring of pad material surrounding and defining each hole is drawn inwardly as the diameter of the hole reduces.
