<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular protective device capable of properly absorbing impact of an impact receiving object such as a pedestrian or a bicycle rider in a collision with a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicular protective device has an impact receiving object detecting means of detecting a moving direction and speed of the impact receiving object colliding into the vehicle, and an energy absorbing means protruding in a vehicular outward direction for absorbing energy when the impact receiving object collides with the vehicle. A control means controls timing and position for operating the energy absorbing means on the basis of the moving direction of the impact receiving object detected by the impact receiving object detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
