Catalytic compositions

The catalytic composition of the parent Specification which consists of SnO2 and Sb2O4 in admixture or chemical combination is prepared by forming a mixture of the oxides of antimony and tin, at least one of the oxides being a hydrated oxide obtained from HNO3 on the metal, contacting the resulting mixture with water at elevated temperature or with aqueous ammonia, separating solid from liquid and heating the solid in oxygen at 550-1100 DEG C. Examples are given.
