A system and a method for providing a message service on demand to a receiver are provided to enable a caller to write and transmit a desired message through a message writing screen supporting a specification and a setting condition for a message so that the receiver can check the message without the distortion or transformation of the message. A service-subscribed terminal(10) receives the number of a called party in making a message, downloads information on display environment of called party corresponding to a query for the display environment of the terminal of a called party(60) on the basis of wireless data communication, generates a message making screen suited to the display environment of called party, and provides the message making screen to a display unit, and transmits a message made on the message making screen to the number of called party. A message display management server(70) stores and manages display environment of the called party including the display support specification and recent display setting condition information of each terminal in a terminal display information DB(Database) by terminal, and makes the display environment information of the called party including the display support specification and display setting condition information of the terminal of called party downloaded to the service-subscribed terminal if the service-subscribed terminal inquires the display environment of the called party.
