A can for a lithium rechargeable battery is provided to prevent the upper part of an electrode assembly from being pressed by settling an insulating case in a recess of the can, and to enable a good welding of a cap plate. A can(210) for a lithium rechargeable battery is applied to a lithium rechargeable battery including an electrode assembly and a can. The electrode assembly has a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode plate and negative electrode plate. The can accommodates the electrode assembly inserted through a top opening(210a) thereof. The can has a recess(215) for settling an insulating case(370). The recess is formed to protrude toward the inside of the can in a length of 0.25-0.4 mm. |
