A method for setting up a default value of a timer in a wireless communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to make a transmission terminal retransmit a reset protocol data unit immediately or output reference signaling regardless of whether using the default value or a configuring value. An apparatus for setting up a default value of a timer in a wireless communication system comprises a control circuit(106), a CPU(108), and a memory(110). The control circuit(106) is for implementing functions of a communication apparatus. The CPU(108), installed in the control circuit(106), executes program codes(112) for operating the control circuit(106). The memory(110), installed in the control circuit(106) and connected to the CPU(108), is used for storing the program codes(112). The program codes(112) include a unit for setting the default value of a reset timer and a poll timer as the first value, and a unit for preventing reset signaling and inquiry signaling for being retransmitted before receiving a corresponding response signal by using the reset timer and the poll timer.
