FIELD: movable belt used in belt-type separator for separation of particle mixture, and method for forming the same. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves connecting in overlapping relation portions of thermoplastic sheet edges beveled with respect to surface of thermoplastic sheet; forming a plurality of openings on thermoplastic sheet edges protruding beyond beveled edge portions overlapping one another. Belt has first and second portions of thermoplastic sheet on which portions are formed first and second edges beveled relative to surface of thermoplastic sheet. Beveled edges have first and second plurality of openings provided along edges of thermoplastic sheet. Beveled edges are connected in overlapping relation so as to produce portions running over one another. First and second pluralities of openings protrude beyond portions of first and second beveled edges running over one another. ^ EFFECT: minimized thickness of joined surfaces, reduced concentration of stresses at junction site and minimized deformation at portions exposed to thermal effects and at portions free of exposure to thermal effects. ^ 44 cl, 8 dwg
