965,110. Hot - water boilers. A. K. ENGLAND. Dec. 17, 1962 [Dec. 18, 1961], No. 45186/61. Heading F4A. Electric water heating apparatus comprises a cold-water tank a having a common water level with a heat insulated hot-water vessel b partially immersed in the water in said tank, in which vessel an electric heating element d controlled by a thermostat c heats the uppermost layer of the water to boiling point at which temperature it is maintained by a second heater e of relatively low wattage to be withdrawn as required. In the Figure, the low-powered heater e is wound around a water outlet sleeve f to maintain the upper layers of the water at boiling point after the main heater d has been switched off, and to heat the outflowing water in the sleeve. The angled withdrawal pipe g forms the end of the sleeve f and is rotated to lower the end below water level. The sleeve f leads to a heated delivery pipe h for boiling water. A mixer-cock j withdraws water from hot and cold stand-pipes at high and low levels.
