The clutch has a fixed clutch plate (1`) rotatably integrated to an input shaft (1), and an output shaft (2`) rotatably integrated to a mobile clutch plate (2). An electromagnetic unit (3) moves and maintains the mobile clutch plate against the fixed clutch plate. The fixed clutch plate has notches (j) arranged on its periphery opposite to the mobile clutch plate, and the mobile clutch plate has notches (i) arranged on its periphery opposite to the fixed clutch plate, where the notches are dimensioned so as to work in limitation of saturation of magnetic materials constituting the clutch. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of detecting sliding of a clutch plate with respect to another clutch plate in an electromagnetic clutch (2) a method of measuring a sliding speed of a clutch plate with respect to another clutch plate in an electromagnetic clutch (3) a gear motor comprising an electromagnetic clutch for establishing or interrupting the transmission of a motor power to an output.
