A switch assembly, Fig. 1, comprising a plurality of rocker keys 1 with press faces 2, movable in two directions and biased towards their centre position, and a catch member 14 which engages one of three grooves 11 in bars 6 moved when one key is depressed, the catch member 14 being moved out of engagement with the bars 6 of the other keys so that they return to their centre position. The bars 6 carry moving contacts 8 which engage fixed contacts 9. A tension spring 15 biases the catch member 14 into grooves 11. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, a plate 26 serves as the catch member and is biased to engage grooves 25 in a catch segment 24 fixed to the key. The key 20 is biased to its centre position by adjustable compression springs 213. In further embodiments, the key is biased by a leaf spring through the catch members, Fig. 5 (not shown), or by a convex contact spring, Fig. 6 (not shown). The catch member may be a plate 26 with a V-shaped ridge 28, a plate with a ledge, Fig. 3 (not shown), or a U-shaped bent wire, Fig. 4 (not shown). |
