The device has a protective casing (1) defined by an articulated cover (2), and providing a receiving zone of a fluff string ball (3) that is arranged along a vertical or horizontal axis. A protective cone (4.1) engages on a central axis of a spool by a centering rod, when the spool is vertically placed. A string distributing conduit is disposed in an upper part of a chain guard (5) for facilitating threading of the string with or without an anti-returning unit permitting threading of a thread towards an upper tube. A removable drawer is disposed on a base part of a fiber recovery housing (7).
