Provided are a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, which can suppress the reduction of a display quality even in case an orientation film is oriented by using an optical orientation method, and an exposure device. The liquid crystal display device has the orientation film over a substrate, and has two or more domains formed in each pixel of a display region by exposing the orientation film. The manufacturing method includes an exposure step of exposing the orientation film through a photo mask, in which a plurality of optically transparent portions is arranged in a stripe shape. At this exposure step, the exposure is continuously performed while moving the relative position of the photo mask to the substrate, when viewed in front elevation, substantially in parallel with the optical transparent portions.
